A SPOOKY NIGHT IN DISNEY's HAUNTED MANSION

PART 2

 

Shredder, Baxter, Krang, Valmont and Black Tiger are too frightened to find another way out, so they obey their host's voice and enter the candle-lit gallery. The art gallery is a large room, its walls covered with paintings. As the Syndicate steps through the door into the gallery it closes behind them. Now the friends are trapped inside with no means of escape.

 

KRANG

We should not have come in here, I'm scared.

SHREDDER <Confused>

I don't see anyway out. There are no doors, and not even a window.

VALMONT

Oh great! What now?

BAXTER

You got us trapped in here. Now that the door is locked we cannot escape that way...so we must find another exit.

VALMONT

Are you accusing me of allowing us to seek shelter inside an empty house?!!

BAXTER

Sorry, just offering an opinion.

SHREDDER

Meanwhile let's stay calm and not panic.

KRANG

Panic?!! <Shocked> Look who’s telling who to panic.

 

The unseen Ghost Host continues speaking to his visitors, his voice traveling from wall to wall within the chamber.

 

GHOST HOST

Here in the gallery...you see there paintings of some of our residents as they appeared in their corruptible mortal state...Even in this flickering gloom your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding...Your trusting mortal eyes tell you that these walls are stretching...

 

Just then the room appears to be elongating - getting taller as the ceiling rises away from the floor, or is it the paintings stretching??? Shredder, Krang, Baxter, Valmont, Black Tiger stare in shock & alarm at the terrifying sight before their eyes.

 

GHOST HOST

But logic says no, it's mere hallucination...then look above you examine everything carefully...Your logic cannot deny that this chamber has no windows and no doors...Which offers a rather logical challenge, to find a way out...<Then he breaks into uncontrollable laughter> Hmhmhmahahahaah...There's always my way.

Lightning flashes from above the room, illuminating the attic areas. There seems to be no roof. From the rafters a corpse or dead body of the Ghost Host sways, dangling by a taut rope. The candelabrum Valmont held goes out mysteriously as do the other candles held in gargoyle statues on a ledge surrounding the entire gallery. Suddenly a loud scream cuts through the darkness as if an unseen victim commits suicide, falling down-down-down to his/her death. In a few seconds the candles re-light by magic. A secret panel on the opposite end of the chamber slides open, exposing a dimly lit hallway. One by one the Syndicate steps through into the corridor wondering what they will encounter next. On the left side, windows reveal a grotesque landscape frequently illuminated by the lightning flashes. On the right side of the corridor are large portraits. When the lightning flashes these paintings morph into decayed corpses & monsters.

 

KRANG

We should never have come in here.

BAXTER

So if there's a way in there should be a way out.

SHREDDER

Yes, we must look for that exit if we are to escape this nightmare.

BLACK TIGER

Master? How do we find that exit?

VALMONT

Well...the only answer or solution is that we continue this tour and our unseen host will kindly show us the way out.

 

This makes Krang, Shredder, Baxter, Black Tiger gasp-gawk in wide-eyed, open mouthed expressions. Suddenly a loud whooshing noise passes overhead followed by a loud scream startling everybody!

 

GHOST SCREAM

AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

SHREDDER

What the devil?!! <His favorite quote>

BLACK TIGER

Ghost?

BAXTER

Aaaaaaugh! <Screams like Charlie Brown>

KRANG

Aiiiiiiiiiie!!! I hate ghosts!!!

VALMONT

It's ok, looks like a bat or crow or raven.

EVERYBODY

WHAT, WHAT?!!

 

Sure enough a black shape swoops by disappearing into the gloom beyond, but Valmont cannot make it out clearly to either be a bat, crow, or raven. Just then the Ghost Host apologizes for frightening his visitors.

GHOST HOST

Did someone scream?...Ahh, we didn't mean to frighten you prematurely...Apparently the restless spirit of an old witch has taken possession of that poor wretched crow or raven's mortal being...Be on your guard, it may want to permanently repossess...hmhmhmahahaah...Come along now...

 

The Syndicate walks down the long tapering corridor. There seems to be a light at the far end - pitch blackness behind them. The hallway makes a sharp turn into an eerily lit limbo abounding with mist and decay. The furniture and walls are covered with spiderwebs. A staircase seems to be the only passageway out. Suddenly a strange looking vehicle materializes into full view before the surprised villains - they have no idea where it came from or what it is until their HOST explains he has arranged a special transportation for them.

 

GHOST HOST

And now a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural...Kindly watch your step as you board, oh yes, and no flash pictures please...we spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights...

 

Nervously they climb into the DoomBuggy, seating themselves into the padded seat cushions as the Ghost Host prepares them for a journey into their worst nightmare ever!

 

GHOST HOST

Do not pull down on the safety bar please, I will lower it for you...<The bar lowers into place with a click> And heed this warning...The spirits will materialize only if you remain quietly seated at all time...

 

Next the carriage rolls forwards and begins climbing the staircase up-up-up into the darkness. By the time the Syndicate reaches the 2nd Floor landing, they are greeted by an appalling cold. This as you know is the traditional manifestation of the supernatural.

 

GHOST HOST

I hope you don't have an aversion to darkness and cold...But you see we spirits are sensitive to light and every consideration has been given to our comfort here in this delightfully dreary place...
