                                            PART 2

As the plane cruises on autopilot on its way to southern California down the coast Ninjara and Chan monitor the instruments while keeping a sharp eye out for oncoming traffic.

JACKIE CHAN
I just remembered something, I have this fear of flying in planes.
NINJARA <Surprised>
    You what?  Afraid to fly.

The vixen cannot believe what she is hearing...Chan afraid to fly???  So she asks him what the problem is.

NINJARA
Why are you scared to fly in planes?
JACKIE CHAN
I keep getting this nagging feeling that something's going to go wrong with the plane.
NINJARA
Oh god, good grief.  So you don't want to fly?
JACKIE CHAN
I don't want to hurt your feelings by saying no.
NINJARA <Waves it off>
It's alright, I understand.  Why don't you go back into the cabin and try to relax awhile.  If I need you again I will call you.
JACKIE CHAN
    Thanks, are you sure?
NINJARA
Positive. <Smiles> I can handle it from here.

Just then Donatello's head pops in through the cockpit door as Chan is getting out of his 1st Officer's seat careful not to bump the control column or risk disengaging the autopilot settings.

DONATELLO
Did I hear someone is afraid to fly?
NINJARA
It appears Chan fears something bad will happen to this plane and us onboard.
JACKIE CHAN
Right...do you want to take over?
DONATELLO
Hey, no problem.  I can fly planes anytime.
NINJARA
Ok, she's all yours. <Gestures to empty seat>
DONATELLO
    Aye-aye captain. <Salutes>
JACKIE CHAN
    Good grief...<Rolls eyes> I'm out of here.

He retreats to the safety of the cabin and enters the galley.  Opening the mini-fridge he helps himself to a soda and snacks then finds his seat next to Jade who's fast asleep in her seat next to the window.  Across the cabin on the opposite side are Raphael & Venus in their seats, behind them are Michaelangelo & Tohru also sleeping in their seats too.  The sumo giant has headphones over his ears and his CD player strapped to his pants but at the moment he is snoozing away since the music he was listening to put him to sleep like magic.  Mikey too was listening to audiobooks on his cassette player leaning back in his seat and enjoying himself.

JADE <Half awakes>
    Jackie, are we there yet?
JACKIE CHAN
No, not yet.  We still have more hours or minutes to travel.
JADE
Oh, what are you doing here?  I thought you were helping the vixen fly.
JACKIE CHAN
Well, I, ahh...<Charlie Brown's famous line> I decided to take a break and let Donnie take over for me.  Ninjara can handle herself like an expert.
JADE
Ok, wake me when we arrive. <And she falls back asleep again>
JACKIE CHAN
    You got a deal.

Meanwhile Ninjara and Donatello continue the flight across the state.

DONATELLO
I wonder why Chan quit piloting our flight?
NINJARA
If you must know, he is afraid of something going wrong with the plane.
DONATELLO
    Yegads!  I hope not! <Panics>
NINJARA
    I wouldn't worry about it.

The plane drones onwards...In the meantime Ralph, Venus, Mike & Tohru continue sleeping away not knowing if they will arrive on time or not.  Chan finishes his snack, returns the garbage to the bins in the galley and returns to his seat, buckles himself in and dozes off next to the sleeping Jade.  Then seconds later he is awakened by a voice calling him from the flightdeck.

DONATELLO
Calling Mr. Chan, calling Mr. Chan, please come to the cockpit.
JACKIE CHAN <Startled awake>
    Wha, huh, who?
JADE <Also wakes up>
    Who's calling? <Looks around> who is that?
NINJARA
Jackie?  Can I see you a sec.
JACKIE CHAN
    Uh, coming. <Gets up>
JADE
    Where are you going Jackie?
JACKIE CHAN
The lady fox wants me up front again, be right back.
JADE
    Oh, uh-huh. <Bored look> see ya.

Chan returns to the flightdeck where Donatello & Ninjara await him.  He has no idea why they wish to see him.

JACKIE CHAN
    You wish to see me?
DONATELLO
Yes, we were wondering if you know about DisneyLand since we are going there to make sure the Syndicate does not destroy the theme park in the first place.
NINJARA
I've never been there myself...have you?
JACKIE CHAN
Yes, long ago before I met you and the turtles.  Once, Jade, myself, Uncle, Tohru and the J-Team members Viper & El Toro traveled to Anaheim where we explored the Magic Kingdom went on nearly all the attractions, stayed at the DisneyLand Hotel and rode the monorail from the hotel to the park and back.
DONATELLO
Wow, were you ever lucky or what?
JACKIE CHAN
    You could say that.
NINJARA
But what is DisneyLand?  How was it created.

Jackie decides to tell his friends how the amusement enterprise was begun by one man who wanted to have his own theme park for children and parents to come and share in the magic & fun together.  So he pulls a CD from his pocket on his shirt and holds it up.

NINJARA
    What is that thing? <Curious>
JACKIE CHAN
This CD is the complete story of how DisneyLand was born.  It tells the tale of Walt Disney and how he built his own amusement park.  Included are behind the scenes of construction work that went into the building of the park, audio-animatronic special effects and such.  And now as they say...on with the show!

He inserts the diskette into the slot on the portable CD player installed on the plane's console panel.  Instantly a video image of a medieval castle appears on-screen in front of a dark background, night-time scene when suddenly fireworks explode behind the castle in a kaleidoscope of colors.  Then a fairy named TinkerBell flies into view and starts waving her magic wand back & forth casting rainbow color-patterns to fill the entire screen before disappearing for a second before appearing again to flash her wand one final time, a loud FLASH or WHOOSH noise is heard and the rainbow patterns dissolve to be replaced by an aerial view of DisneyLand showing guests walking around or enjoying the rides as background music begins playing accompanied by narration.

NARRATOR
In July 1955 the opening of DisneyLand changed the way America looked at rides.  In place of the honky-tonk boardwalk was a controlled environment a place where riders were not meant to be thrilled or intimidated but transported into a soothing fantasy realm called a theme park.  The attractions were all made suitable for children, they were gentle and relatively slow.  There wasn't a single thrill ride among them.  Disney sought to create a sense of contempt for children & adults.

The next scene shows Walt Elias Disney inside his office talking about his idea of building an amusement park.

WALT DISNEY
Well it came about when my daughters were very young and Saturday was always Daddy's Day with his two daughters.  So we'd start out and I'd take them to the merry-go-round and take them to different places.  And as I sit there while they rode the merry-go-round, did all these kind of things, sit on a bench and eating peanuts.  I felt that there should be something BIG, some kind of amusement enterprise where the parents and children could have fun together.  So this was the very beginning.
NARRATOR
Like a child himself Disney had always loved scale models that mimic the real thing.  Years before his park was built he ran this half-mile track around his estate, ripping up his wife's flowerbeds in the process.

It shows Walt sitting on laying prone atop a miniature boxcar and one of his fellow workers giving him a friendly shove to get rolling down the tracks.  At one point as he passes by the cameraman he grins or smiles while pulling & pushing with both hands to propel himself down the tracks.

DONATELLO
    Woohoo, look at that.
NINJARA
That looks fun, riding a miniature train around the tracks.
JACKIE CHAN
Disney knew how to entertain himself to keep from being bored.
NARRATOR
On weekends he took his grandchildren and other visitors for rides.  No wonder that DisneyLand would one day be called "The World's Biggest Toy For The World's Biggest Boy"

Next scene shows Walt hunched forward over the engine working the controls while sitting atop a tender.  Children riding atop the boxcars pulled behind the train enjoying the FREE RIDE around his estate in Carolwood.

JACKIE CHAN
Disney must have been thinking of how he would create his theme park to allow guests-visitors to experience the magic themselves.
NINJARA
It must have taken a long-long time to construct the entire park from start to finish, huh?
JACKIE CHAN
Oh yes, indeed.  It did not open until July 17, 1955 when Disney dedicated his creation to the public and it was televised LIVE on the air to millions of people at home watching on their TVs.
DONATELLO
    Now that's cowabunga.
NINJARA
Wow!  Anything else on this audio tour?
JACKIE CHAN
There is more coming up. <Stops recording to pull down menu> What do you want to see next?
